Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Monday, Nov. 30: At 4:52 pm a deputy and Scranton fire responded to a grain silo fire in the 700 block of 230th St in Jackson Township.
Sunday, Nov. 29: At 2:48 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest. At 6:55 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 800 block of Jay St Churdan. At 11:33 pm a deputy investigated a stop sign that was missing on Anyer St and Highway 144 in Dana.
Saturday, Nov. 28: At 1:11 pm a deputy and Churdan Fire responded to a grass fire at County Roads P-29 and E-13 in Dawson Township. At 7:58 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 and Highway 25 at Scranton. A 14-year-old male was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and was pulling another 14-year-old male on a lawn mower. The chain broke and the lawn mower rolled in the ditch. Greene County Ambulance responded and transported one male with minor injuries. At 9:52 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 200 block of 16th St N in Grand Junction.
Friday, Nov. 27: At 9:57 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 500 block of Adrian St in Churdan. At 5:33 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 100 block of 2nd St in Rippey. At 6:57 pm a deputy, Jefferson PD, Greene County Ambulance, and Jefferson fire responded to a garage fire in the 600 block of N. Locust St in Jefferson. The fire was caused by a wood stove.
Thursday, Nov. 26: At 1:08 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident at Highway 30 and W Ave east of Grand Junction. Nicole Silbaugh, 33, of Jefferson was eastbound on Highway 30 driving a 2017 GMC Acadia. Samuel Lopez, 18, of Perry was southbound W Avenue driving a 2007 Honda Acord. Lopez failed to stop at the stop sign on W Ave. Silbaugh struck Lopez’s vehicle, causing severe damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries. Lopez was cited for failure to obey stop sign and failure to yield right of way. Greene County Ambulance and Grand Junction Rescue both responded. At 3:42 pm a deputy assisted a jailer with an unruly inmate. Nathaniel Aldrich, 32, of Perry was charged with criminal mischief- fifth degree*.
Wednesday, Nov. 25: At 4:44 am a deputy investigated a missing person in the 700 block of Sand St in Churdan. At 3:24 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 300 block of 18th St N in Grand Junction. At 6 pm a deputy investigated a firearm that was found in a rental car in the 900 block of Irving St in Scranton.
Tuesday, Nov. 24: At 9:59 am a deputy investigated a theft of services at the grocery store in Churdan. At 11:58 am a deputy issued a salvage tag on Highway 30 and K Ave west of Jefferson. At 10:35 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 1000 block of Highway 4 in Hardin Township. Ronald Maulsby, 42, of Rockwell City struck a deer with a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban, causing an estimated $500 damage to the vehicle.

Sunday, Nov. 22: At 12:40 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order int he 500 block of State St in Scranton. At 9:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of 5th St in Rippey.
Saturday, Nov. 21: At 4:42 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1700 block of F Ave in Greenbrier Township. At 9:06 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway in the 1800 block of 230th St in Grant Township.
Friday, Nov. 20: At 7:47 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on 190th St and Emerald Ave in Bristol Township.
Thursday, Nov. 19: At 9:32 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on 245th St and M Ave in Greenbrier Township. Eric Morris, 42, of Guthrie Center was operating a 2019 Freightliner garbage truck and got too close to the shoulder of the roadway. The truck slid into the ditch, sustaining an estimated $8,000 damage. At 10:30 am a deputy investigated a mail scam in the 300 block of State St in Scranton. At 12:37 pm a deputy investigated a fire in the 700 block of Walnut St in Scranton. The deputy found a neighbor burning leaves. The neighbor agreed to extinguish the fire.
Wednesday, Nov. 18: At 12:38 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a possible burglary in the 200 block of N. Oak St. At 5:11 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a complaint of fireworks in Jefferson. At 7:25 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on County Road N-65 (D Ave) near 130th St in Cedar Township. At 6:07 pm a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 4 near 260th St south of Jefferson. At 9:02 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-53 (235th St) near Quint Ave east of Jefferson. Christina Jesuroga, 45, of Pleasant Hill struck a deer with a 2014 GMC Yukon, causing an estimated $2,000 damage to the vehicle. At 11:55 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a search of a vehicle in the 600 block of E. Highway 30.
Tuesday, Nov. 17: At 12:33 am a deputy issued a salvage deer tag on E Ave near 195th St in Kendrick Township. At 1:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass on Highway 30 near Highway at Scranton. At 6:26 pm a deputy conducted tobacco compliance checks around the county. Fareway and HyVee were cited for selling tobacco to a minor.
Monday, Nov. 16: At 5:56 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 and Q Ave east of Jefferson. Peter Bardole, 54, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Damage to the pickup truck was estimated at $2,500. At 10:46 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 700 block of Harding St in Churdan.
Sunday, Nov. 15: At 1:35 am a deputy attempted to stop a driver who fled, reaching speed of more than 120 mph on Highway 30 near Highway 4. At 10:42 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 100 block of Ram Drive.
Saturday, Nov. 14: At 10:06 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 2400 block of V Ave in Washington Township. At 11:04 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 100 block of W. Second St in Rippey.
Friday, Nov. 13: At 5:09 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a burglary report in the 200 block of N. Oak St. At 10:35 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of Hager’s St E in Grand Junction. At 6:44 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident in the 1100 block of 170th St in Hardin Township. Haylee Duckett, 17, of Jefferson was driving a 2005 GMC Sierra when she struck a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Devon Cullum, 17, of Churdan. Duckett was cited for reckless driving. Damage to Cullum’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000. Damage to Duckett’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500. At 10:15 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 300 block of Irving St in Scranton.
Thursday, Nov. 12: At 4:51 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 250th St near B Ave in Scranton Township. Adam Coyne, 43, of Coon Rapids struck a deer and left the scene before a deputy arrived. At 9:44 am a deputy and the state fire marshal’s office investigated a homemade explosive device that was found in the 200 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. The device appeared to be a modified firework. The fire marshal’s office disposed of the device. At 12:09 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on Highway 4 at the Highland Township Cemetery in Churdan. Alisa Olson, 38, of Churdan was traveling eastbound and went to pass a garbage truck. The garbage truck driver started to turn when she was beside the truck. Olson entered the north ditch and then the cemetery, striking four headstones, causing an estimated $8,000 damage to the headstones. Damage to Olson’s 2013 Ford Expedition was estimated at $8,000. There were no injuries. At 11:12 pm a deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle in the 1100 block of 130th St in Highland Township. The deputy located several personal items outside the vehicle leading to a resident in the 1300 block of 130th St. The deputy located Shanda Frederickson, 35, of Gowrie intoxicated in the residence. Frederickson was charged with trespass and criminal mischief- fourth degree*. The case is still under investigation.
Wednesday, Nov. 11: At 1:51 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of identity theft in the 200 block of Hager St E in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, Nov. 10: At 7:36 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 4 near 257th St south of Jefferson. Joshua Tuel, 43, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2013 GMC Terrain. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000. At 4:09 pm a deputy assisted the Fort Dodge PD with retrieving property in the 1600 block of S Ave in Junction Township. At 5:33 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road N-58 (A Ave) near 230th St in Scranton Township. Lesly Viveros, 34, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,500.
Monday, Nov 9: At 5:04 pm a deputy investigated a fire in the 1600 block of 243rd St in Grant Township The fire was a controlled burn. At 5:23 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on S Ave near 325th St in Washington Township. At 5:25 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass at the Jordan Ave railroad crossing in Jackson Township. At 7:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 600 block of Locust St in Scranton.
Sunday, Nov. 8: At 10:49 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on 222nd St and R Ave in Grant Township. At 1:35 pm a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer in the 1200 block of Imperial Ave in Kendrick Township. At 9:35 pm a deputy investigated an assault that occurred in the jail.
Saturday, Nov. 7: At 4:34 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a suspicious person in the 100 block of W. Washington St. At 6:04 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a transient in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way. At 9:19 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 700 block of School St in Churdan. At 4:15 pm a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer on Highway 4 near 257th St south of Jefferson. At 10 pm a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near Kirkwood Ave west of Jefferson. Carolyn Wells, 59, of Boone was eastbound when a truck pulling a trailer loaded with wood lost some of its load. The wood struck Wells’ 2018 Ford Ecosport van, causing an estimated $350 in damage.
Friday, Nov. 6: At 8 pm a deputy assisted a jailer with an unruly inmate. At 8:59 pm a deputy assisted the Perry PD with a death notification.
Thursday, Nov. 5: At 1:38 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a pursuit that began in Jefferson and ended in Churdan. Angel Vaughn, 37, of Tama was arrested for operating while under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, and eluding*. At 8:03 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief n the 1700 block of D Ave in Scranton Township. At 2:02 pm a deputy investigated a dog bite in the 900 block of X Ave in Junction Township.
Wednesday, Nov. 4: At 1:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of Q Ave in Hardin Township. At 2:17 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 2400 block of 337th St in Washington Township.
Tuesday, Nov. 3: At 6:33 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Eaton Avenue near 190th St in Kendrick Township. At 8:48 am a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of 9th St in Scranton. At 1:59 pm a deputy investigated a hit-and-run accident on M Ave near 180th St in Bristol Township. The driver of a tractor had struck a utility pole and left the scene. The driver and tractor were not located. At 3:09 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 4 near County Road E-57 (290th St) in Franklin Township. Jamie Daggett, 23, of Des Moines was northbound on Highway 4 near E-57. Conner Willson, 25, of Jefferson was following Daggett. Both drivers came upon a slow-moving vehicle and both decided to pass. As Daggett moved into the passing lane, her vehicle collided with Willson’s vehicle, which was also in the passing lane. Damage to Daggett’s 2013 Honda Elantra was estimated at $1,500. Damage to Willson’s 2007 Peterbuilt was estimated at $500. At 4:16 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an unruly male subject in the 100 block of E. Lincoln Way.
Monday, Nov. 2: At 7:20 am a deputy and Jefferson fire department responded to a ditch fire in the 2000 block of Highway 4 in Franklin Township. At 8:45 am a deputy issued a salvage tag for a deer in the 1600 block of 130th St in Dawson Township. At 11:19 pm a deputy put cattle back in their fence on 130th St near County Road N-65 (D Ave) in Cedar Township.
Sunday, Nov. 1: At 5 pm a deputy assisted a jailer with an inmate who was causing damage to a booking room. Steven Dzuris, 32, of Jefferson was charged with criminal mischief- third degree*. At 9:46 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an impaired female at Wild Rose Casino.
